Why purchase organic coffees ?
Organic coffee is grown and processed without the use of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or chemical fertilizers. These coffees are produced under conditions that have a low impact on the environment, allowing soil and water to stay healthy, as well as preventing a negative impact on wildlife. Farmers, family members and their communities are also protected, as they’re not regularly exposed to toxic chemicals.
In fact, the clean soil and fresh water are major contributors of why organic coffees taste so great. Also, when grown at elevations of 4,000 ft and above, these more dense “hard beans” (or SHB / Strictly Hard Beans) better retain moisture, contributing to a major boost in flavor, furthermore complimented by a well orchestrated roasting process, as done with Thunder Island Coffee Roasters..

What is Fair Trade ?
A movement which strives for fair treatment for farmers. In a fair trade agreement, farmers, who in other situations might be more susceptible to the will of the purchaser, will negotiate with the purchasers in order to receive a fair price for their products. Farmers who engage in fair trade also aim to pay their workers a fair price, and engage in environmentally friendly practices.

What’s the deal with so many options for coffee grinding ?
Here are some basic descriptions for the various coffee grind options along with their corresponding brewing methods used for each:

Coarse grind
- French Press coffee maker
- Vacuum coffee maker
- use with a cooking pot over heat source

Regular Percolator
- percolator coffee maker

Electric Percolator
- one step finer than Regular Percolator grind and allows better heat continuity, using less grounds, yielding less sediment.

- flat bottom drip brewers (ie. Mr Coffee brewers)

- cone filter brewers (ie. Melita brewers)
* the finer the grind, the less ground coffee is needed per brew, a great way to use less coffee and make your bag of coffee last longer

- espresso coffee brewers that utilize pre-ground coffee (whole-bean is generally the preferred method, since many automated espresso machines have their own grinding ability)

- Ibrik or Hovoli brewing methods

If you don’t see your desired coffee grind offered on our Product drop down box options, please feel free to choose any of these above grind options, and message us on our Contact Us page.
